When commissioning services you need to be able to easily receive and process information from providers to ensure they are meeting their delivery requirements and determine the impact on whānau.

Providers often lack the systems necessary to effectively capture required data, which can lead to poor data quality. Meanwhile, building systems on a contract-by-contract basis for providers to use can be extremely expensive and time consuming. Systems that only work for a single contract, or small collection of contracts, also impose silos on providers, impairing their ability to effectively coordinate care and properly access their own data.

The current lack of data standards for community care also means that captured data may meet the needs of an individual contract, but not offer a lot of value in a different context.
