Working in conjunction with Oranga Tamariki, Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated has developed a new programme to offer integrated support through a collective approach to addressing the disproportionate number of tamariki in state care in Te Matau-a-Māui (Hawke’s Bay).
The innovative programme, whereby cases are triaged by Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated and Oranga Tamariki kaimahi and then referred to Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi partners for care, requires comprehensive information to be captured, and shared appropriately.
Chrissie Hape, CEO of Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated said: “Our social sector accredited Kaupapa Māori service delivery partners needs a system that enables them to safely and securely coordinate whānau care and supports, while ensuring accurate information flows back to Ngāti Kahungunu Iwi Incorporated. Noted gives us that capability.”
Chrissie said, “We’re excited about the progress so far and look forward to the opportunities for greater oversight of programme performance through this platform. It will allow us to measure the impact of Te Ara Matua on whānau wellbeing in a meaningful way.”
